Privacy Policy — Markdown Studio
Markdown Studio is a local, offline Markdown editor. We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no telemetry of any kind. Everything you write stays on your device.
What data the app handles
- Your documents. The Markdown text you write and the files you open are processed entirely on your device. Recently opened documents are cached locally on the device so you can reopen them; this data never leaves your device and is not accessible to the developer.
- App settings. A single local setting — your customizable “new document” template — is stored locally on the device.
We, the developer, have no access to any of the above. None of it is uploaded to us or to any third party.
Network access
The app requests the INTERNET permission for one purpose only:
- Inlining remote images on export. If you reference an image by a web address (URL) inside your own document and then export the document (to HTML/Word/PDF), the app fetches that image directly from the server you specified so it can embed the image in the exported file. This request goes to the third-party server that hosts the image (your choice), not to the developer. We do not receive, log, or store these requests.
The app performs no other network communication. It does not “phone home,” and it contains no advertising or analytics SDKs.
Permissions
- INTERNET — used only for the image-inlining behavior described above.
- File access / sharing — when you open or save a file, the app uses Android’s standard file picker and share sheet. Files are read or written only where you choose. The app does not scan or index your device’s storage.
Children’s privacy
The app is a general-purpose text editor and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Data retention and deletion
Because no data is collected by the developer, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side. All app data lives on your device; you can remove it at any time by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling the app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the same URL with a new effective date.
